Food Science and Cereal Science Students Receive Awards

Three North Dakota State University Department of Plant Sciences students in the Food Science and Cereal Science programs received awards from the Minnesota Section of the Institute of Food Technologists (MNIFT) on April 28, 2022.

Anto Charles received a Graduate Scholarship Award and a Travel Scholarship Award. Liuyi Chang received a Travel Scholarship Award and Anna Mahoney received an Undergraduate Scholarship Award. Charles and Chang are both Cereal Science Ph.D. candidates advised by Dr. Jiajia Rao in the Food Ingredients and Biopolymers Research Group. Mahoney will graduate from NDSU with a B.S. in Food Science on May 14.

The MNIFT is a regional section of the Institute of Food Technologists and has a  tradition of excellence and leadership development. The territory of the section includes Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, northern Iowa, and northwestern Wisconsin. The MNIFT Macy Award and Student Award Night, which is held annually, took place at PURIS Global Headquarters in Minneapolis, MN.
