Cowboy Beans
This healthy recipe comes from NDSU Extension.
Ingredients
4 strips bacon, fried until crisp, drained and crumbled
1 pound lean or extra-lean ground beef, browned and drained
1 medium onion, chopped
¼ cup brown sugar
1 cup ketchup (low-sodium)
¼ cup vinegar
¼ cup mustard
1 (15.5 ounces) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 (15.5 ounces) can butter beans, drained and rinsed
1 (15.5 ounces) can lima beans, drained and rinsed
1 (28 ounces) can baked beans (do not drain)
Directions
Brown meat and fry bacon. Mix all ingredients and cook in a slow cooker on high for three hours or low for eight hours.
