4-H Shooting Sports Project
The 4-H shooting sports project is a hands-on program that provides education in natural resources and wildlife, among many other outdoor project areas.
Youth are encouraged to establish a personal environmental ethic while exploring activities they can enjoy throughout their life. Certified instructors teach archery, black powder, pistol, rifle, shotgun and hunting in safe environments. The intent of the program is for members to complete activities in areas of interest in the beginner to senior levels of the program.
Beginners learn the basics of archery and air rifle before moving on to more advanced equipment. Shooting sports activities have age level requirements (ages 8-18). Local competitions are held throughout the state for youth to demonstrate their knowledge and skill.
Please contact your local Extension office for information on the 4-H shooting sports project and shooting sports clubs in your area.
